Business Development

This page is dedicated to highlighting all of my experience that would be categorized as "Business Development" across all jobs and internships I have completed, starting with the most recent at the top.

At Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, a large part of our business is building relationships with people who can help us succeed. As the Communications Liaison at SGY I would be tasked with building relationships with these people to help each other achieve our goals.

Building new relationships

Business development is a crucial aspect of our firm. We focus on creating long-term value through strategic partnerships with companies that provide benefit to our firm. This includes care facilities, financial advisors, medical practitioners, and anyone who we can build lasting relationships with that provide mutual benefit to both parties.

Networking Events

As the Communications Liaison, I attend networking events to represent the firm on behalf of the State College and Altoona offices. These networking events include Chamber of Commerce Events, Open Houses, BNI meetings, and other events where I represent the company.

Gifts and Thank You Cards

Maintaining relationships with business partners is very important for keeping these relationships alive. Part of it is communication, but also its showing your thanks for their cooperation. A hand-written thank you card is a great way to show your appreciation to those who have helped you achieve your business objectives. If you want to send more thank just words, sending a gift basket to their office can't go wrong! From experience, chocolates and wine tend to go over the best.

Lunch and Learn

Often, we want to meet up with potential referral sources to educate them on what we do and how we can help them. Unfortunately, people are very busy and don't have time to fit us in their busy schedule. One of the best ways we get our foot in the door is by offering to do a lunch and learn with their staff. We offer to buy them lunch, and during their lunch break we give a short presentation about what we do, and how we can help them, and how they can help us. These are very successful and we have made a lot of contacts this way.
